New Laws in Illinois effective January 2014 regarding the Outdoors
Beginning January 1st there will be many new laws on the books in the State of Illinois. Among them will be some regarding the outdoors, hunting, fishing and the like. We have put together a list of some of the laws that will be changing in 2014. If you want more information regarding any of these click on the bill number to go directly to the bill.HB83: ANIMALS-DOGS-TETHERING
Provides that certain requirements must be met in order for an owner to lawfully tether a dog outdoors
HB1650: FISH-TECH
Provides that a commercial fisherman shall obtain a sport fishing license in addition to a commercial fishing license, and that an individual assisting a licensed commercial fisherman must obtain a sport fishing license.
HB2754: VEH CD-WILD TURKEY PLATES
Provides for the issuance of National Wild Turkey Federation license plates.
SB1042: CIVIL LAW-TECH
Provides that an owner of land who permits without charge any person to use the property for recreational or conservation purposes does not thereby extend any assurance that the premises are safe for any purpose or assume responsibility for or incur liability for any injury to person or property caused by an act or omission of such person or any other person who enters upon the land, or assume responsibility for or incur liability for any injury to such person or property caused by any natural or artificial condition, structure or personal property on the premises.
SB1170: UNLAWFUL POSS. OF WILDLIFE
Creates a prohibition on possession of wildlife or parts of wildlife that were taken in a manner that is illegal in the territory where the animal was taken.
SB1479: BOATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Authorizes the Secretary of State to suspend a person's driver's license for operating a watercraft under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating compounds.
SB1620: WANTON WASTE OF GAME MEAT
Makes it illegal to wantonly waste or destroy usable meat from game animals.
