Home Run for Illinois
Because of
Because of
Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration
and
Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Act
Today, April 28, 2015 the United States Fish & Wildlife Services announced it will be disturbing $1.1 billion in raised revenue to the 50 states and territories of the United States.
Illinois will be receiving $23,783,360 from money collected by an excise tax. In 1937 the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act was signed into law, the tax covered certain items, ammunition or sporting arms. After several amendments and the enactment of Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Act most everything outdoor related has this tax.
Click on either Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration or Dingell-Johsnon Sport Fish Restoration Act. Here you will read about the items that are taxed and what percentage? I can say that this is one time I don't mind paying higher taxes. WHY? The success stories are all around us and the conservation efforts in this country are on our backs. The improvement of habitat for anglers and hunters and more education on how to be a safer hunter are both things that get improved from this money.
