Starting today Illinois Dove permits are available for selected sites across the states. It's free, quick and easy to do. As summer kicks into high gear hunting might be on the back burner for a bit, however it will be here before you know it. Many outdoors men and women use dove season as the start of hunting season, especially for dog training.

Dove Season always starts September 1 and is a great way to get youngsters or an adult introduced to hunting. Why? Early September is still usually warm so the weather is nice, dove are fast and abundant and all you really need is your shot shells and gun. It's only been recently you've seen dove decoys.

- Free Dove Online Permit Application. This will lead you to the homepage for dove hunting. It will have instructions on how to apply and will walk you through the application process.

- Dove Hunting - this is the homepage for dove hunting on the Illinois Department of Natural Resources that contains information to help you along the way.
