Illinois Conservation World Promises Good Times
Immediately we noticed a booth that was finally selling Illinois duck pins. In the past, these pins were Morel, Deer and Turkey. We have always suggested at events that they needed to get a Waterfowl pin and the day has finally arrived. Regardless of the pin that one would buy, the money raised goes towards hunter's safety education. So, make sure to stop and purchase any of these collectible pins.
Further down the path there is the Kid's Archery and BB Gun Ranges. These instructors focus on education and safety with each participant and bystanders. Whether you are new or a veteran to Firearms, it is always good to review the Ten Commandments of Firearm Safety.
Continuing along the path, was the Office of Law Enforcement Tent; make sure to go inside and thank a Conservation Police Officer for all their hard-work. While there, pick up your hunting license for the upcoming season and check out the wildlife display.
The tent that we enjoyed the most was the Fisheries tent. Inside you will find two tanks full of different species of fish. You want to see the closest thing to a dinosaur still on earth today? Go here and see the Alligator Gar.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources focuses on more than just hunting and fishing. It focuses on areas ranging from Forestry to Mines and Minerals and you will find that and more at Conservation World. It is full of entertainment including a train ride, dog demonstrations, fly-fishing demonstrations and a show by the Whip Guy.
